Since Cobra entered the marine VHF market (2003), it has been a new benchmark from the beginning, and in a market where technology seemed to be stalled, Cobra has been able to introduce new solutions as well as make the aid of VHF more comforting and safe.
Today Cobra is igniting a new challenge, revolutionizing its entire range with a line that, while tracing its tradition, points the finger toward new construction concepts.
The type of construction will surely create a new trend. In fact contrary to the direction previously followed, Cobra is now moving toward a flexible body. This new solution is aimed at better absorbing impacts, as well as tending to reduce injuries from a possible fall toward the user, remembering that on the boat we are normally barefoot. In addition, each model is lighter than the previous one, which certainly helps further in achieving these new goals.
Those who use Cobra know the robustness and longevity of these VHFs, today we can count on these features to be further extreme.
The design wanted to follow that of the previous models, but with a definite rounding of the lines that gives them an aesthetic that is much more in line with modern and particularly attractive design. In addition, this new design makes them even more comfortable, in grip and in accessing functions during use.
Functionality tended to correspond to that of the same related models in the previous range, these features being decreed by the market itself as "winning." However, advantage has been taken in decanting some solutions from the top of the range to the cheaper models, as in the case of the flashlight and strobe function, previously present only in the top of the range and now also available in the 350E model.
Power aspects have also been further improved. The batteries are much more capable than in previous models (from 1000mAh to 2100 mAh for the 650E model), allowing even longer battery life. The type of battery attachment has been improved, getting the tedious screw out of the way. In addition, the desktop charger for models 350E and 650E now has a second slot, allowing any second battery to be recharged together as well, while the charging connector has evolved to USB-C, now perceived as more reliable even for use in a marine environment.
Also listening well to feedback that came especially from professional use or from older fishermen, the audio volume has been made significantly more powerful, from 250mW to 500 mW for the "150" model and from 250mW to 700 mW for the "350" and "650" models, so as to overcome even the most intrusive shipboard noise.
Also noteworthy is the new method of backlighting the display that allows the user to be able to select between night/day, so as not to be dazzled by too bright a light during nighttime use. This prerogative is present on all models except the BlueBound 150E.
The new BlueBound series is thus presented with this long series of improvements and bent on rising to a new level, where safety and practicality will coexist in complete harmony.
