OLAS Float-On is a small floating torch with integrated MOB technology from Exposure Lights to signal the possibility of man overboard. More briefly, it is a multifunctional safety device, suitable for both beginners and experienced yachtsmen.
If the person wearing the OLAS Float-On falls into the sea, the device provides for 2 different signals:
- After 6 seconds that the torch is in contact with water, the strobe starts flashing intermittently for 1 second, with an autonomy of 24 hours and visible up to 3 miles away.
- After 8 seconds, the OLAS app, installed on a smartphone or tablet, triggers a siren to warn the rest of the crew and then positions itself on the page dedicated to tracking and recovering the victim.
Never before has such due attention been paid to the man at sea!
The OLAS Float-On is fastened to a lifejacket belt or can simply be held in a pocket.
It is quickly charged by USB in less than 3 hours and is easily located in the dark thanks to a courtesy LED on the back, where there are also connectors for charging. The courtesy LED also indicates the state of charge of the battery.
The torch is also well suited for routine operations on board, with a particularly wide beam and a maximum light of 120 lumens, but decreases to 10 lumens, so as not to dazzle the other people of the crew.
The OLAS Float-On is equipped with a water switch that automatically activates the strobe and a Bluetooth module for signalling man overboard. As the Bluetooth range is about 10 meters, the OLAS Float-On is not suitable for use on boats over 50 feet.
The OLAS Float-On will be available in March 2018 and can be purchased at the best nautical retailers.
