SD cards are widely used in the computer industry as portable memory that can also be stored in a wallet, to transfer and use files from one device to another, for example from the camera to the computer. SD cards are available in 3 formats, standard, mini SD and micro SD. Adapters are common so that the SD viewfinder can also be adapted to the other two formats.
In the nautical sector, they are often used in the following devices:
- In marine stereos, to be able to read music files contained in it.
- In nautical GPS, to enter electronic chart information or transfer files such as user point information.
